Pier Gustafson spoke recently at the Decordova Museum about his work which
appeared in a show entitled "Tools as Art". Before moving toward graphic design,
Pier was a recognized sculptor in the Boston area. His pieces are owned by
the Decordova, and the MFA.

Pier made a television debut in the show "Chronicle" last week. He was a
enthusiastic customer at a local pen shop when their pen repairman was
interviewed. When asked why he likes old fountain pens (and has over 3000 of them) Pier
chose to illustrate that with a calligraphic flourish wowing the TV crew.

That wasn't quite his debut on the small screen...He has starred, (or his
right hand has starred) in a number of WGBH "American Experience" episodes. You
can see him portray the "good" student at McGill University who is sketching
Houdini as the "bad" student punches him in the stomach, rupturing his appendix,
which eventually lead to the magician's death.
His calligraphy can be seen amongst the assorted objets in the opening
credits of "Masterpiece Theatre".
