One of New England’s very favorite blog; Massachusetts Wedding Guide featured an article written by EFD Creative’s owner and wedding branding expert, Edna Dratch-Parker (The Wedding Brander™) called “Trending Alert – Wedding Branding”.
Wedding Branding is a very popular trend that brides are incorporating into their wedding planning! Creating a personalized look and feel is what makes a wedding unique. You want the experience of making your wedding special, and with your own special touches, but are not sure how to apply it to your event. Many brides have heard of the term Wedding Branding and understand it at some level, but it helps to break it down to its key elements. Then it becomes easy to see how branding can turn your special day into a spectacular event that people will remember and talk about long after you both have left for your honeymoon!

Katie and Mark’s wedding concept was a bit different than most…the wedding became a tribute to her grandparents and her maternal grandparents were from Havana, Cuba. She wanted her wedding to have that feel of old time Havana, with the carefree cabana style from the 40′s. It was inspiring to work on the family’s rich history and bring it alive at the wedding.
Wedding date: October 13, 2012
Inspiration: All the little touches is what brought together the vision. With an authentic cigar roller, cabana tent, mojito signature drinks along with mojito lollipops that were used as place cards, it really came together. Having the florist work her magic with the palm leaves and a tropical arrangement combining antique cigar boxes that held the centerpieces gave the look a special feel. The table numbers were old-fashioned postcards from the era with photos that represented old Havana. Antique style cigar match boxes, family heirloom jewelry rounded out the many touches that made this day feel like a trip to Cuba and a wonderful way to tie in her family history. Katie wanted to have the wedding be a tribute to both sets of grandparents since they never had a formal wedding because they eloped.
Color palette: Green, orange & deep purple were the main colors with added in tropical colors incorporated in the flowers
Guest count: 100
Most unique design element: Incorporating the Cuban style into the event – the cigar roller added a lot of the authentic feel…it was unique and fun.
Biggest challenge: Katie’s grandmother to whom this wedding was inspired passed away a few months before the wedding, so it was more important than ever to get this theme right and pay homage to her family ties.
Hindsight: The wedding was a big success. Everything turned out to be just perfect. One thing you can never count on is the weather in New England and although it was clear, it was cold, and it was a tented wedding. Good news is everyone warmed up when the dancing began!
Learnings: I am always amazed at how the love of family pulls everyone together, losing her grandmother prior to the wedding was very upsetting to the bride, but keeping the focus on celebrating life is what was important. We never know what will happen prior to a wedding, but always remembering what is really important at the end of the day is my take-a-way.
The Venue: The Longfellow’s Wayside Inn is a very historic Inn. It is the oldest operating Inn in the country and holds so much history. It is truly fascinating. Here is an excerpt from their website and a link:
“Longfellow’s Wayside Inn—a nationally significant Massachusetts Historic Landmark—is the oldest Inn still operating in the United States and has been serving travelers along the old Boston Post Road for almost 300 years. What began as a two-room home in 1707, the Howe family ran a successful tavern and innkeeping business on this site from 1716 to 1861.
From its Colonial roots as an important stagecoach stop, to Henry Ford’s historic preservation of the property as a living museum of American history from 1923 to 1945, the Wayside Inn offers a unique experience of history. The Inn is the perfect backdrop for your own memory-making occasions, as well as a unique casual touring and educational destination.
Part of the Wayside Inn Historic Site, Longfellow’s Wayside Inn offers informative exhibits as well as atmospheric dining and guest rooms for the visiting public. The Inn serves breakfast, lunch, dinner and brunch to compliment your exploration of the property’s 125 scenic acres.”
This month Cort Event Furniture installed their Essex Sofa & Side Chair in our Showroom along with the Jettison Coffee & Side Table. It is the perfect collection for this time of year. There is a grace and elegance to this look especially when paired with the brilliant reds of the season. We see this collection matching beautifully with our Mirage Dining Chair, Ghost Bar Stool as well as our new Chroma Tables.

Nicole and Sam’s wedding was amazing, they were so down to earth and easy going. By the end of their outdoor ceremony it was POURING out and it didn’t bother them one bit Towards the end of the evening they surprised everyone with fireworks!

One of my favourite places to film is Hildene, in Manchester Vermont – I thing it is because of the location, the history (this was the Lincoln family home) and the fact that all of our Hildene couples have been amazing! Caitlin and Ryan are adorable, their story naturally unfolded throughout the day and was talked about in all of their speeches. It was a pleasure getting to know these two and filming their wedding was pretty awesome! As a bonus I got to film with Shannon, a fellow filmmaker friend of mine from L.A.

It was amazing getting to know Annie and Joe, these two are such a sweet couple and so much fun! Mike, Brian and I (jeff) had such a great day filming their wedding, which was in beautiful Portsmouth, NH with a reception at Portsmouth Harbor Events Conference Center on a gorgeous fall day.
I absolutely LOVE what Annie wrote on WeddingWire, she is so funny! “…honestly would’ve taken this video over $50,000 cash. It is really that good. I had people messaging me for weeks about how incredible and talented the same day edit crew was.” – Annie
The same day film reaction photos that patrick mcnamara photography captured are pretty amazing

Holiday’s can sometimes be stressful. Let us take a little bit of that stress off your plate.Click the link below to see our full menu.
Introducing our new GUNMETAL BISTRO COLLECTION
This “retro” collection includes a Barstool, Dining Chair and 24″ Square Cocktail Table (42″ high).
Modeled after the TOLIX chair, originally designed by Xavier Pauchard in the 1930’s, it was a staple in French Bistros, offices, hospitals and even parks. We have seen a resurgence of this “industrial chic” look as the pieces are so versatile, they seem to work well in many design schemes.
This chair is a welcomed addition to our rental inventory….it stacks, has rubber feet which work perfectly on all floor surfaces, can be used for outdoor or indoor events and the galvanized finish cleans easily and has a unique look.
