With the assistance of The Wedding Beautiful, Inc., couples can choose many eco-friendly options in all areas of their ceremony and reception. Here are just a few:
Select a reception site with hook-ups for electric cars and is a member of greenhotels.com.
Choose caterers who use locally grown organic foods; who provide pitchers of water as an alternative to bottles; and provide sugar cubes instead of packets on tables and coffee bars.

Frequently couples will request a a demo DVD of their work prior to scheduling a meeting. At the time of the meeting they exchange the DVD for a special surprise. In the end they re-use the DVD and save a small amount space in the landfill. After producing your event, they recycle the DVCAM tapes used in the taping process. And, in an effort to reduce the amount of paper they use, they conduct business over the phone, internet or in person as much as possible.
Limo
Eleanor Slye - Christopher Limousine
Using a limo service can dramatically help reduce emission on your special day. Transporting up to 10 people in one vehicle as opposed to five, reduces the emissions by at least 400%. When waiting for passengers our drivers are instructed to shut off the vehicles and their maintenance staff keeps all cars up to date with emissions laws. Green cleaning products are used on their fleet to protect the water supply. They use champagne glasses instead of plastic and recycle all bottles after use.
Minister
Maddie will speak to her couples about eco friendly choices-especially from the philosophical level.
Finally, here are a few simple things to think about that could make difference:
LOCATION - Stay local and reduce the carbon emissions. Have your ceremony and reception at the same location and near public transportation. Have out of town guests rent hybrid cars.
APPAREL - Go vintage or slightly worn. Pick materials made of hemp or organic fabrics like cotton, silk or bamboo.
CANDLES - choose candles with a soy or beeswax base
CAMERAS - Don’t allow disposables
FAVORS - Opt for organic chocolate and use small plants as centerpieces so guest can plant them after the wedding. Be a trendsetter and offer natural soaps in the rest rooms. Guests might catch on and purchase them for themselves down the road
DONATIONS - Donate food to a homeless shelter - instead of providing guests favors give a donation to your favorite charity in their name.
RENT - real glasses, dishware and linens.
DON’T use anything Styrofoam or plastic!
